At the age of four...

I began to learn valuable lessons in caregiving on my parents’ farm. Little did I know how college and the real world would draw on many of these invaluable skills learned as a boy. In college, I again had opportunity to refine my caregiving abilities as I faced the challenges and apparent defeats that accompany being an assistant men’s dean. During this time, whether I was chatting with friends in the cafeteria, leading out in our weekly community service projects, or gaining clinical experiences I found countless opportunities to serve and provide for friends and strangers, the hurting, neglected, and underprivileged.

Over the years I have seen many physicians who view their work as more a career than a vocation, but I have also seen those who see it as a way of life and a calling from which they never retire. Their interactions with the nurses and their patients express integrity and genuine love. This is the kind of doctor I want to be, this is the kind of care I want to give.

During my medical experience

I found a role model who changed this world—Jesus. He spent the majority of His life healing the sick, yet without spiritually intubating them, He provided more than just physical healing. As my clinical shadowing showed me, I want to be a physician who provides the entire spectrum of care: physical, social, and spiritual. There is nothing I want more than to spend my life giving this kind of care while helping people, restoring their health, and offering support in the times when no one else can. I have already dedicated my life to becoming a physician; now, I look forward to medical school where I can receive the training that will enable me to pursue this calling.

God gave me a passion...

to help people through my profession as a physician. God gave me a special passion for lifestyle medicine and mental health, but I am open to specialize in which ever specialty He leads me to. In the future I am planning to implement different health-care and clinic plans to do medical missionary work in an attractive and effective way. Having gained a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience at Weimar, it is my passion to advance this kind of work in various communities, nationally and internationally.

In summary, I want to connect cutting edge science with the gospel and genuine service based on God’s love for humanity, healing people for eternity. I want to incorporate this vision in my own work and train others to do so in their circles of influence.
